Chapter 2

After about 2 years of marriage and 1 1/2 years of ttc, we put our dreams of children on hold because one of my husband's brothers need a place to stay. He was around 15 years old at the time and in a residential home for troubled boys. He was either going to be placed in a more maximum security home or with us. We convinced the judge that he would do well with us and we could help. So in February of 2006, Cody moved into our home. Within in 6 months another one of Jeremy's brothers were in a similar situation. The day before we recieved guardianship of Cody, Robert moved into our home.
Our lives were turned upside down. We were hoping for cute little babies and ended up with two troubled teenagers, both with violent pasts. There was no way that we were going to try to have a baby of our own at this time. We did go without birth control for a 1 1/2 years or so, just seeing what would happen, but not timing anything or putting effort into it.
In 2007 we moved back to Illinois due to Jeremy's older brother becoming more and more violent and to have more family support. Within 5 months of moving, Jeremy's brother finally let is all loose and ended up moving out of our home. It was heartbreaking because he had so much potiential, but refused to live up to it. Our lives were turned upside down again and we were trying to sort out the pieces and to turn our focus to Robert. Robert turned 16 in 2008 and is living up to his potiential. No, he is not perfect. He tends to slack off of his responsiblities and tends to "forget" easily. But he is a normal teenager and this is all to be expected.
2009 brought lots of excitement that our lives were getting back on track. We are planning a vaction in August and looking forward to making new friends. And so we begin a new chapter in our lives.
